I-9 Audits Rise by 300% - Get Your Forms in Order

When we start working with a new client, the first thing we do is an I-9 audit of all employee files.  Why?  The first reason is that the fines for non-compliance are onerous!  

• Paperwork violations fines range from $110 to $1,100 per violation (each I9).

• First offense $375-$3,200 for each unauthorized employee.

• Second offense $3,200-$6,500 per unauthorized worker.

• Third offense $4,300-$16,000 per worker.

The second reason is that not only have the audits spiked in the last 3 years but immigration arrests of employees and managers have jumped by 600%.  The decision by ICE as to the amount of the fine if there are errors includes your good faith effort to comply.  Document the process and make the effort or bring in someone to do it for you; we can help.
